Advising and support
The Research and Technology Transfer Department at JGU is responsible for research funding and offers advising and support in acquiring external funding.

The information for FB04 is provided by the Department of Research and Teaching the University Medical Center.

At regular intervals, the Research Services team sends out newsletters with a discipline-specific overview of current funding options, which you can subscribe to:

The Gutenberg Academy supports ECRs at JGU with its own funding lines to help them position themselves in their scientific community, expand career-relevant networks and conduct independent research.

If you are unable to use the funds within this period – for example because the trip has been canceled – please inform us immediately (ga@uni-mainz.de).
  • If an attempt is made to transfer ineligible costs, all approved funds may be recalled. Please refer to the allocation notice for detailed information on financial processing.

In line with JGU’s equal opportunities concept, we provide additional funds to grant equal opportunities (“GA Equal Opportunities Grant“) as part of the “Participation in scientific events” funding line. The aim is to enable all ECRs to participate in scientific exchange and research-related activities and to promote the best possible development of individual potential. The GA Equal Opportunities Grant is contingent upon approval of the “Participation in scientific events” funding line and cannot be applied for separately.

Through the GA Equal Opportunities Grant, the GA provides a lump sum for travel expenses for one accompanying person (e.g. a caregiver or child – the lump sum is usually waived for children, unless a separate ticket is required).

Promoting excellence

The GAFP offers outstanding doctoral candidates and artists (junior members) a regular interdisciplinary exchange with JGU scientists and artists (senior members) and supports them in their career development in science or the arts. Through the supervision of a senior member as part of an internal university sponsorship and the possibility of external mentoring by a renowned public figure, they receive idealistic support.

External mentoring as career-accompanying supervision and exchange beyond the boundaries of one’s own university also gives junior members insights into other academic or non-academic fields of activity.
