Am 28. April feiern wir die Eröffnung der Gutenberg Academy (GA) in der Alten Mensa, am Johann-Joachim-Becher-Weg 5, auf dem Campus der JGU.
Alle ECRs und alle interessierten Mitglieder der Universitätsgemeinschaft sind herzlich eingeladen. Die Veranstaltungssprache von Info Fair und Official Opening ist Englisch.

The Info Fair offers a quick and comprehensive overview of the funding and support options available for Early Career Researchers at Mainz university. Representatives from postgraduate support structures, doctoral programs, qualification and mentoring programs as well as advisory services and early career interest groups will provide information and guidance.

At the official opening event, we will introduce the Gutenberg Academy and the innovations it brings to JGU. Together with selected guests, we will then examine the importance of „future skills“ for emerging researchers and the challenges and opportunities they present at both individual and institutional level. After the event, we look forward to continuing the discussion in a casual and informal atmosphere during the get-together.

Prof. Dr. Frank Ziegele has been Executive Director of the CHE Centre for Higher Education and a professor of Higher Education and Research Management at Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences since the early 2000s. He is a renowned expert in matters regarding the strategic management and development of higher education institutions, as well as the importance of and the career opportunities in science management for researchers.
Dr. Christopher Degelmann is an August Boeckh Visiting Professor of Ancient History at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and Co-Spokesperson for the Science Policy working group of Die Junge Akademie. Die Junge Akademie brings together outstanding Early Career Researchers and artists from German-speaking countries and is a recognized voice in the German academic system. Dr. Degelmann completed his doctorate as part of a research training group and advocates offers for postgraduates.
Mirjam Müller is Senior Staff Developer for postdocs at the Academic Staff Development Unit of the University of Konstanz. She is responsible for support measures for academic careers and advises the rectorate on strategies for the advancement of Early Career Researchers. Mirjam Müller has been working as a coach and trainer for postdoctoral researchers for many years and is a successful author on academic careers related topics.
Every year a selected number of outstanding young talents in science and art are awarded membership with the Gutenberg Academy Fellows Program (GAFP), granting them access to a special tailored career support program.
During the ceremony, the newly admitted members meet active and former members of the GAFP and present their dissertation projects in a poster forum meanwhile the departing members are given a dignified farewell. This event will be held in German.
